Description: mosque The Imam Al-Shafii mosque represents a prominent landmark in Islamic Egypt, for its owner Muhammad bin Idris Al-Shafi’i, the owner of the third Islamic school of thought, which includes within it the largest shrines in Egypt. The mosque is located in the Imam Al-Shafii neighborhood, and the mosque was established in honor of the Imam. The mosque was built by Sultan al-Kamil al-Ayyubi in 1211 AD, and it has a large dome, one of the most beautiful domes in Egypt, which is wooden and covered with lead. The Arab Contractors Company renovated and developed the Imam Al-Shafi’i Mosque under the supervision of the Ministries of Awqaf and Antiquities.
