This mosque was named after Marzouq Al-Ahmadi in relation to the presence of his tomb inside the mosque, and Sheikh Marzouq Al-Ahmadi was born in Yemen, then immigrated to Egypt, joined the Kamili school and learned the science of hadith. He had a heroic role during the Crusade that came to Egypt under the leadership of King Louis IX of France in 648 AH / 1250 AD, which was defeated after the Battle of Mansoura. A small corner until the current archaeological mosque was built on it in the Ottoman era.
