During his visit to Gharbia today, to inspect and inaugurate a number of service and development projects, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly - Prime Minister, and his entourage inaugurated the expansion of Zifta Wastewater Treatment Plant in Al-Gharib village, with a design capacity of 20,000 m³/day, which was implemented as part of the first phase of the presidential initiative "Decent Life," within the framework of the state's efforts to expand infrastructure projects and improve the level of services provided to citizens in the Egyptian countryside. This was in the presence of Eng. Randa El Menshawy - Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, Major General Dr. Alaa Abdel Moaty - Gharbia Governor, Eng. Ahmed Omran - Deputy Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities for Utilities. Major General Eng. Amin Shawky - Chairman of National Authority for Drinking Water and Wastewater, and Major General Eng. Mohamed Abdel Fattah - Chairman of the Board of Drinking Water and Sanitation Company. Representing Arab Contractors Company were Eng. Ahmed El Assar – AC Chairman, Eng. Hassan Mustafa – Senior Vice Chairman, Eng. Mohamed Lashin - Executive Board Member; and Eng. Shehab El Zahed - Manager of Marine Structures. The Prime Minister affirmed that the sanitation projects implemented by the state within the presidential initiative "Decent Life" represent one of the most important pillars for improving the quality of life for citizens, given their direct role in protecting public health and preserving the environment, in addition to supporting the comprehensive development efforts witnessed in Egyptian villages across various sectors. Eng. Randa El Menshawy - Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, declared that the projects being implemented within the presidential initiative "Decent Life" reflect the state's vision for building a strong and sustainable infrastructure in rural Egypt. She noted the continued work on implementing more service and development projects that place the citizen at the heart of the development process and achieve a higher quality and more stable life for them. For his part, Major General Dr. Alaa Abdel Moaty - Gharbia Governor emphasized that the expansion of Zifta Wastewater Treatment Plant is a strategic project that enhances the efficiency of the utilities system in the governorate and contributes to improving the level of services provided to citizens. He pointed out that the project represents a significant addition to the infrastructure in Zifta and reflects the scale of achievements realized in Gharbia within the framework of the state's efforts to develop rural Egypt and improve the quality of life for its citizens. During the tour of the station, the Prime Minister listened to a briefing by Major General Eng. Amin Shawky - Chairman of National Authority for Drinking Water and Wastewater, on the status of drinking water and sanitation projects in Gharbia. Major General Shawky indicated that the National Authority has implemented and is currently implementing 252 projects in this vital sector, with a total cost exceeding LE 15 billion. He explained that 173 of these projects have been completed, in addition to 19 other projects within the first phase of the presidential initiative "Decent Life." He added that 60 of these projects are currently being implemented as part of the governorate's investment plan, as well as within the second phase of the "Decent Life" initiative. During the tour, Major General Eng. Amin Shawky provided a detailed overview of the status of the completed and ongoing drinking water and sanitation projects under the "Decent Life" presidential initiative. The Prime Minister also listened to a presentation from Major General Eng. Mohamed Abdel Fattah - Chairman of the Board of Drinking Water and Sanitation Company regarding the project's components. He explained that it included the construction of 66 km of gravity networks and 4 km of force mains, in addition to sedimentation, aeration, and dilution basins. He noted that the plant utilizes an extended aeration system, a modern technology used in wastewater treatment, ensuring the highest levels of operational efficiency and adherence to approved environmental standards. The treatment plant serves several villages and hamlets in Zifta district, including Al Riyad, Al Gharib, and Kafr Abdel Rahman, as well as Zifta city area near El Ashra Bridge, Ezbet Youssef Gabr, Ezbet Ezzat, Ezbet Al Gendy, and Ezbet Al Batrakhana. This provides sanitation services to approximately 210,000 people, contributing to improved services for residents and enhancing the environmental and health conditions in the area.
