The Minister of Housing and Gharbia Governor inspect Zifta Wastewater Treatment Plant

Eng. Sherif El Sherbiny - the Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, and Major General Ashraf El Gendy - Gharbia Governor concluded their tour to Zifta Center by inspecting Zifta Wastewater Treatment Plant, as part of the infrastructure development projects within the framework of the presidential initiative to develop the Egyptian countryside "Decent Life", with a capacity of 10,000 m3/ day. The visit was in the presence of officials from the Ministry of Housing, Gharbia Governorate, the Holding Company for Drinking Water and Wastewater, the National Authority of Potable Water and Sewage (NOPWASD), and Gharbia Drinking Water and Sanitation Company. The visit was attended by Eng. Hassan Mostafa - Senior Vice Chairman of the Arab Contractors Company, Eng. Mohamed Lashin -Head of the Delta and Marine Constructions Sector, and Eng. Shehab El Zahed - Manager of Marine Constructions Department. The Minister and the Governor listened to an explanatory presentation about the project from the officials of the National Authority for Potable Water and Sewage about the plant and the implemented expansion works. The plant capacity is 20,000m3/day, and expansions are ongoing to reach a capacity of 30,000 m3/day. The plant serves approximately 80,000 people in 3 villages: Sandpast, Kobry El Ashra, and Ezbet El Sett Golfedan, through 66 km of gravity networks and 4 km of force mains. The project consists of integrated plants and units, including inlets and filters, primary sedimentation basins, aeration basins, distribution rooms, final sedimentation basins, a primary sludge lifting station, an air blower building, an electricity building, a generation building, a chlorine building, a returned and excess sludge lifting station, sludge concentration basins, a central sludge lifting station, sludge drying basins, a contact basin, and a wastewater treated channel. This will enable the plant to treat wastewater with high efficiency and cover all the targeted villages. All construction work has been completed, and operational tests are ongoing to ensure the plant is fully operational. The project aims to fully deliver sanitation services to the targeted areas and improve the quality of facilities provided to citizens, ensuring a healthy, safe, and sustainable environment. It also reflects the state's commitment to implementing infrastructure projects according to the highest technical and engineering standards. At the end of the tour, Eng. Sherif El Sherbiny praised the cooperation between the Ministry of Housing and Gharbia Governorate regarding wastewater and potable water projects, stating that the ministry's continued support for development projects that serve citizens in the governorate and provide them with a decent life. Major General Ashraf El Gendy- Gharbia Governor expressed his gratitude to the Minister for the visit and for closely monitoring the projects progress. He emphasized that the partnership between the governorate and the ministry contributes significantly to enhancing the quality of services delivered to citizens.
