The Prime Minister and the Minister of Youth inspected the upgrading works of Cairo International Stadium ahead of AFCON 2019

The Prime Minister - Dr. Moustafa Madbouli and Dr. Ashraf Sobhi – the Minister of Youth and Sport inspected the ongoing preparation and development work at the Cairo International Stadium for hosting the 2019 African Cup of Nations (AFCON 2019) which will be in Egypt by next June. This was in the presence of Major Gen. Aly Darweesh – Head of Cairo Stadium Authority, Eng. Mohsen Salah – CEO and Chairman of the Arab Contractors Company, Eng. Emam Afify – the Vice Chairman of the Arab Contractors Company, Eng. Ahmed Abbass – the AC Board Member, Eng. Sayed Shendi– Head of Greater Cairo Sector and a number of the company leaders. The Prime Minister and his companions toured a number of facilities within the stadium, starting with the VIP cabin which was developed and completed as stated by the Minister of Youth. Dr. Ashraf Sobhi pointed out that the development of the roads surrounding the Cairo Stadium was implemented. Besides, the construction of a road connecting Al Fangari Street and Youssef Abbass Street to facilitate traffic and ease access to the stadium. The Minister of Youth declared that there are the creation of new areas and the development of the stadium’s facilities, which will be used for reception and hospitality, as well as changing some areas and adding new changing rooms, accomplishing the requirements of the African Union in the stadium. The Prime Minister inspected the stadium playground, the Minister of Youth stated that it was finalized and will be followed up to be on its brightful image on the launching of the championship. He pointed out that the ongoing works are: the installation of numbered seats, a range of display screens and the maintenance of the main display screen. The decoration for the entrance to the VIP cabin has been changed and developed. The Minister announced that the stadium gate was changed, currently the revising works for the networks of the electronic gates is undergoing; in addition to the completion of upgrading the lighting, developing the Wi-Fi network inside the stadium and the media area. Besides, the infrastructure works in general especially water and wastewater. Dr. Moustafa Madbouli stressed on the necessity of accomplishing all works with the highest efficiency and on time; consequently, Cairo International Stadium will be a cultural front for the championship and reflecting the development which Egypt is witnessing nowadays in different fields. The Minister of Youth stated that there is a daily follow up for the time schedule of the work execution. The completion of all works will be at the end of this May; except the seats installation will be completed on the First week of June.
