Eng. Mohsen Salah – CEO and Chairman of the Arab Contractors Company was inspecting the work progress of Cairo International Stadium Upgrading Project as a preparation for the hosting of Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON 2019). This was in the presence of Major Gen. Ibrahim Saber – Deputy of Cairo Governor for the Eastern area, Major Gen. Aly Darweesh – Head of Cairo Stadium Authority, Eng. Emam Afify – the Vice Chaiman of the Arab Contractors Company, Eng. Ahmed Abbass – the AC Board Member, Eng. Sayed Shendi – Head of Greater Cairo Sector, Eng. Mohammed Elwi – Manager of the Distinguished Building Department, Eng. Mohammed Ibrahim – Manager of Nasr City Branch, Eng. Hany Hashem – Manager of Helwan Branch, Eng. Ahmed El Refaei – Deputy Manager of Helwan Branch, Eng. Khaled Rashad – Manager of the Projects of Nasr City Branch and Supervisor of the project and Eng. Ahmed Mamdouh – the Project Manager. Eng. Sayed Shendi declared that the landscaping works is ongoing which starts from the gate of Al Rashdan till the entry of the stadium. Besides, the completion of the asphalt removal, setting the foundatin layer as a preparation for the installation of the interlock. Regarding the main facade works: the steel structure was installed as a preparatory work for the aluminum cladding. 70% of the main stand was implemented, it is including: the entrance’s works, the main reception and the amphitheaters. The finishing, air condition and electricity works are ongoing. 70% of the VIPs’ rests which exists in the typical floor was completed. 50% of the changing rooms’ works was accomplished, it has been reconstructed according to the requirements of Confederation of African Football “CAF”. Eng. Shendi added that there are awarded works: the transfer of the stadium gate from Salah Salem Road for 100m to the inside of the stadium as a facilitation for the masses and ease the traffic in the street, we started immediately its drawings and soil investigations and it was approved from the Engineering Authority for the Armed Forces. The excavation works, bases and the preparation of the steel structure for it will start immediately and will be executed before the championship.
