Located on 4200 square meters, it has 8 sites for air-crafts and after developments, its halls can accommodate 1000 passengers/hour.
It is the second international airport in Egypt, Cairo Airport is the first.
The World Bank contributed in financing it, among the project of developing Luxor city to be one of the major touristic cities in the world.
Major elements of the project
International terminal for arrival and departure:
On an area of 500 square meters to the pharonic style to match the touristic nature of the city. The terminal is provided with all services such as airline offices, baggages, belt conveyors and the notice board.
Completion Date: September 1986.
The New Control Tower:
It is 37 meters high on an area of 500 square meters consisting of a basement, ground floor and 9 floors provided with a cabine of lotus flower shape constructed by slip form method.
Completion Date: September 1989.
<Airport’s Tarmac:
On an area of 60.000 square meters, with its annexes: warehouses, power generating station, a car park and a new gate for the airport.
Completion Date: June 1990.
