On the sidelines of his participation in the 4th session of the Egyptian-Chadian Joint Committee, Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa - Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Acting Minister of Culture, accompanied by Dr. Ahmed Abdel Hakim - Acting President of Alexandria University, Dr. SITACK YOMBATINA BENI - Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Chad, Dr. Abderahim Awad Atteib – Chad’s Minister of Livestock, Mr. Keda BALLAH - Chadian Minister of Agriculture, and a group of officials from both countries, paid an inspection visit to Alexandria University branch in N’Djamena, Chad, to follow up on the final finishing works and preparations ahead of its official opening scheduled for May 2027. The Egyptian side included Dr. Ahmed Abdel Hakim - Acting President of Alexandria University, Dr. Abdel Aziz Ibrahim Amara - General Coordinator of the Alexandria University branch in Chad, and a number of Alexandria University officials. Also participating from the Arab Contractors Company, Eng. Hassan Ibraheem – Board Member of the Arab Contractors Company, Eng. Mohamed El Qiaay - supervisor of the company’s branch in Chad, and Eng. Mohamed El Mashad –Manager of the company’s branch in Chad. Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa confirmed that the establishment and equipping of Alexandria University branch in the Chadian capital, N’Djamena, comes within the framework of the internationalization policy implemented by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, which includes African, Arab and Asian countries, to transfer the experience of the Ministry of Higher Education system abroad, pointing out the importance of the branch in supporting academic and educational cooperation between Egypt and Chad, and serving students from Chad and Central and West African countries. The minister praised the level of equipment and final finishing works at the branch, and the commitment to the project implementation schedule being carried out by the Arab Contractors Company, stressing the importance of completing the equipment in preparation for the official opening of the branch in May 2027. Dr. Ahmed Abdel Hakim - Acting President of Alexandria University, explained that the university’s branch in N’Djamena includes the faculties of agriculture and veterinary medicine and is currently hosted by the University of N’Djamena. The branch has graduated 128 students in the fields of agriculture and veterinary medicine. He pointed out that the branch aims to add new academic programs in the fields of computers, nursing and business administration, with studies in these programs to begin in the academic year 2027/2028. Dr. Ahmed Abdel Hakim added that the branch includes a number of service and training components, including the medical center, which is one of the new components of the branch, and includes the specialties of pediatrics, orthopedics, ophthalmology, dentistry, obstetrics and gynecology, and internal medicine, noting that the medical center will begin operating with the opening of the branch next May. The branch includes a dairy factory with a production capacity of 5 tons/day, which includes the production of chilled and pasteurized milk, long-life sterilized milk, fermented dairy products, cheese, and ice cream. He explained that the factory represents part of the training and practical aspect of the branch, and all of them will start operating with the opening of the branch next May. The total value of Alexandria University branch project in N’Djamena is approximately US$50 million. The project is being implemented under the supervision of the Arab Contractors Company and includes construction works, equipment, facilities, educational and service components for the branch. The Chadian side praised the level of equipment and capabilities of the branch, and declared that the project represents an important addition to cooperation between Egypt and Chad in the field of higher education, and the promotion of education, training and community service opportunities. The visit was attended by a number of officials from both the Egyptian and Chadian sides.
