The 13th International Conference of the Center for Papyrological and Epigraphic Studies
at the Faculty of Archaeology, Ain Shams University, commenced under the title: “Inscriptions, Writings, and Symbols on Architectural Structures Throughout the Ages (From Reading and Documentation to Study and Analysis).” The conference, held on February 8th and 9th, 2026, at the University Information Network on the main campus, under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El Abedeen - President of the University, Prof. Ghada Farouk -Vice President of the University, under the supervision of Prof. Hossam Tantawy - Acting Dean of the Faculty, and the coordination of Dr. Iman Nabil - Director of the Center.
Arab Contractors is participating in the conference as part of its community role and its ongoing support for scientific and cultural activities, and its commitment to strengthening integration between academic institutions and the engineering sector, particularly in fields related to the preservation of architectural and cultural heritage.
Representing the Arab Contractors Company at the conference were Eng. Mohamed Elwi - Board Member, Eng. Osama Kamal - Head of the Equipment Sector; Eng. Hassan Ibrahim; and Eng. Mohamed Rashad - Deputy Managers of the Palaces and Monuments Restoration Department.
Eng. Mohamed Elwi expressed his gratitude to Egyptian archaeologists for their significant efforts, which contributed to the Grand Egyptian Museum's impressive completion. He discussed the Arab Contractors Company's role in relocating the statue of King Ramses II from Ramses Square in 2006 to El Remaya Square, and then in 2018 to the Grand Hall of the GEM.
Eng. Osama Kamal also delivered a presentation, providing a technical explanation of the challenges faced by the company's team and how they overcame them using modern technology to ensure complete safety during the statue's relocation. He discussed the transfer of artifacts from the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square to the Grand Staircase of the Grand Egyptian Museum and their placement in designated areas.
The conference's opening session included a tribute to the Arab Contractors Company, with Professor Dr. Hossam Tantawy presenting the company with the Faculty's shield and certificates of appreciation in recognition of its active contribution to supporting and organizing this international scientific event.
