The Arab Contractors Company has successfully lifted and installed the first main steel girders for Amr Ibn Al-Aas Axis above the Ring Road.
Each girder is 64-meters and weighs 140 tons. The lifting is being carried out using cranes with capacities of 600 tons and 160 tons, in coordination with the company's various departments: the Bridges and Specialized Structures Department, Equipment Hiring Department, the Marine Shipyard, and the General Directorate of Traffic. Traffic was diverted during the girder installation to ensure safe passage.
Amr Ibn Al-Aas Axis is the second transverse axis in Giza, after Lieutenant General Kamal Amer Axis. It is being constructed under the supervision of the Central Agency for Reconstruction, affiliated with the Ministry of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities. The 4-kilometer-long axis connects the Northern and Southern Ring Roads, relieving pressure on Mariouteya Axis and reducing travel time to less than half. It also facilitates travel between the areas of October, Sheikh Zayed, and Mariouteya to the districts of Nasr City, New Cairo, and Maadi.
Amr Ibn Al-Aas Axis intersects with several main streets such as Al-Haram Street, Faisal Street, and Al-Mansheya Street, leading to the Ring Road.
