Major General Dr. Tarek Goueili - Head of the National Authority for Tunnels, visited a number of stations being implemented by the Ministry of Transport as part of the Blue Line project for the High-Speed Rail. He was accompanied by Major General Eng. Sherif Leil - Assistant Minister of Transport, Eng. Ibrahim Bekhit - Vice Chairman of the Authority, Major General Eng. Kamel Shehata - Brigadier General Eng. Osama El Sharkawy, and Eng. Ahmed Hammad from the National Authority for Tunnels, in addition to engineers from the consulting offices supervising the project. They were welcomed from the Arab Contractors Company by Eng. Mansour Shehata - Head of the Sector and Manager of South Valley Branch, Eng. Mohamed Hussein Abdoun - Deputy Manager of South Valley Branch, Eng. Mohamed Hamdy Soliman – Deputy Manager of North Upper Egypt Branch, and Eng. Ahmed Kamel – Manager of New Aswan Station Project. The tour began with an inspection of New Aswan station, being implemented by South Valley Branch of the Arab Contractors Company. The station serves New Aswan City and the industrial zone. It is located adjacent to Aswan-Luxor Western Desert Road, with a total area of 129,800 m². The station building covers an area of 4,000 m² and consists of a ground floor and a mezzanine floor. It includes a 20-meter-long main tunnel connecting two platforms, each 420 m long. The Head of the National Authority for Tunnels completed his tour by visiting Daraw Station, which is being implemented by North Upper Egypt Branch of the Arab Contractors Company. The station serves Daraw City and the surrounding solar power plants. It is located at kilometer 840 next to Daraw Axis on the Western Desert Road; the station covers a total area of 122,952 m². The station building covers an area of 3,000 m² and consists of a ground floor and a mezzanine floor, with two platforms, each 420 meters long. By the end of the tour, Major General Tarek Goueili praised the quality of the executed work, emphasizing the need to adhere to the project’s schedule, given its vital role in developing the Western Desert and supporting development in Egypt.
