During his tour today in Alexandria Governorate... The Prime Minister inspects development works on facades of properties along Alexandria Corniche

As part of the government's keenness to push forward various projects that serve citizens, to speed up their completion and put them into operation, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly - the Prime Minister, headed to Alexandria Governorate to inspect a number of development and service projects there. He was accompanied on his tour today by Eng. Sherif El Sherbiny - Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities; Lieutenant General Ahmed Khaled Hassan Said – Alexandria Governor, Dr. Sayed Ismail - Deputy Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities; and Major General Mahmoud Nassar, Head of the Central Agency for Reconstruction. His tour included the ongoing development work on a number of properties facades along Alexandria Corniche. He was welcomed by Eng. Hassan Mustafa - Senior Vice Chairman of the Arab Contractors Company, Eng. Osama Shawkat - AC Executive Board Member, and Eng. Hesham Safwat - Manager of Alexandria Branch. The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of implementing this project according to the required standards and the necessity of using materials resistant to the effects of various weather factors to avoid having to renovate the facades again within a short period. He considered this project contributes to improving the visual appeal of the Corniche area to have an attractive beach-like nature, while preserving the distinctive architectural character of this ancient city. From a viewpoint in front of the facade of one of the targeted properties for development in the Cleopatra area of East Alexandria, overlooking the Corniche Road, the Prime Minister listened to an explanation from Major General Ahmed Khaled Hassan Said, the Governor of Alexandria, regarding the status of the development project being executed by Arab Contractors for the benefit of Alexandria Governorate. The project includes the restoration and enhancement of the facades of some properties located along the corniche, covering the districts of Al-Gomrok, Downtown, Sharq, Montazah 1, and Montazah 2. Eng. Mohamed Qotb - Deputy Manager of Arab Contractors Alexandria Branch presented in detail the ongoing efforts to restore and enhance the properties, explaining that 44 properties have been received for development, which have been divided into three levels: severely damaged, moderately damaged, and damaged. Consequently, the restoration of the severely damaged properties began according to the priority set by Alexandria Governorate; a total of 30 properties. He added that the works include removing dilapidated parts and rebuilding them, as well as treating the concrete elements using approved engineering and technical methods to ensure the preservation of the facades in the future, without affecting the architectural character and aesthetic appearance of the Corniche properties. He pointed out that the project, in addition to its urban dimension, mitigates risks resulting from the falling parts of the facades of dilapidated buildings, which poses a danger to citizens. He added that the company is also currently working on developing the facades of several historical properties in Alexandria. The Prime Minister also took the opportunity during the inspection to discuss several technical observations and inquired about the completion date for the development works on this project. The representative of the executing company indicated that the targeted properties for this project are expected to be completed by May 2026.
