Eng. Sherif El Sherbiny - Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, and Eng. Adel El Naggar – Giza Governor inaugurated Osim Potable Water Plant – 1st Phase (60,000 m3/day) in Giza. The inauguration was attended by officials from the Ministry of Housing, Giza Governorate, the Construction Authority for Potable Water and Wastewater “CAPW”, the Holding Company for Drinking Water and Wastewater, Giza Drinking Water and Wastewater Company, and a number of parliamentarians from Giza Governorate. They were received at the station by Eng. Hassan Mustafa – Senior Vice Chairman of the Arab Contractors Company, Eng. Mohamed Elwi – AC Board Member, Eng. Sherif Desouky – AC Executive Board Member, Eng. Ibrahim Abbas Arabi - Head of Sector and Manager of Helwan Branch, Eng. Ismail Bakry - Assistant Head of the Sector, Eng. Osama Mohsen – Manager of Electromechanical Projects Department for Water and Wastewater, Eng. Yasser Eid - Project Manager of Osim Plant. Eng. Sherif El Sherbiny expressed his happiness at the inauguration of Osim Potable Water Plant – 1st Phase (60,000 m3/day) in Giza, stressing the Ministry of Housing's commitment to expediting the completion of projects that directly impact citizens' lives. Eng. Sherif El Sherbiny followed up on the plant operational process after the inauguration, emphasizing the importance of quality operation and regular maintenance to preserve the plant, ensuring that the plant electricity requirements are met. He praised the implementation quality of the plant first phase and thanked the Ministry of Housing and Giza Governorate teams for implementing the project. Eng. Adel El Naggar – Giza Governor stressed that the potable water and sanitation issue have continuous attention and follow-up due to its importance in the daily lives of citizens and its contribution to improving the level of services provided, thus achieving sustainable development goals and providing a decent life for citizens. He added that infrastructure projects and the expansion of water and treatment plants to cover many sectors of the governorate have witnessed remarkable progress over the past years, which has contributed to reaching a daily pumping rate of approximately 3 million m3 of pure potable water, produced through potabke water plants across the governorate. After the inauguration, the Minister of Housing and Giza Governor listened to a detailed explanation of the plant, which consists of the main plant and intake, and 4 modules consisting of (2 filter - 1 filter - 4 filters) with a capacity of 15,000 m3/day for each module, a ground tank - a room for filtered water pumps - a room for chemicals (alum - chlorine) - a sludge treatment system - the station laboratory - the warehouse - the workshop - the transformer building - the generator building, and the water transmission line from the plant to Al Mansouriya Village with a total length of 9.8 km, and a 1000 mm diameter cast iron water line with a length of 1.8 km, and a 600 mm diameter polyethylene water line with a length of 8 km, in addition to the second phase, which will have a capacity of 60,000 m3/day, thus the total capacity of the plant will be 120,000 m3/day. The civil works for the intake for the entire plant have been completed with a design capacity of 120,000 m3/day. The Minister of Housing and Giza Governor inspected the plant's components, monitoring the progress of the electronic monitoring and control system (SCADA) and the workflow at the chemical laboratory. The Minister directed the laboratory to record reports electronically. Besides, the Minister inspected the buildings of generator, the transformer, the filter pumps, and the filters, ensuring that all these components are working properly. He emphasized on the importance of regular maintenance to preserve all components of the plant.
