President Abdel Fattah El Sisi inspected the implementation works of the Taha Hussein Bridge, which links Yasser Rizk axis in Al Mokattam and Maadi districts, to the Al Hadara axis, heading to Downtown areas and the Nile Corniche, where Taha Hussein Bridge is considered one of the unique engineering works, as the columns reach 50 meters high. This led to the use of special cranes, with a load of up to 850 tons.
President El Sisi praised the work of Taha Hussein Bridge, stressing that it is "a huge and great work." He pointed out that he followed the construction work on the bridge a month ago, and listened to a detailed explanation of the work progress on the bridge, which will be 900 meters long and 29–32 meters wide in the joining areas, and its height is 50 meters, and the challenges related to construction, especially the huge height of the bridge, which required special equipment and cranes.
President El Sisi emphasized on the ease of movement through Taha Hussein Bridge in Cairo and among the governorates, stating that naming the bridge after Professor Taha Hussein reflects Egypt's appreciation of intellectuals due to the presence of his tomb near the bridge.
The President stressed the existence of an ongoing study of the bridge through the Arab Contractors Company, saying: "We are changing people's lives in Egypt."
The President also listened to an explanation from Eng. Heba Abou Al Ela – Board Member of the Arab Contractors Company, that 92% of the project work has been completed, and declaring the company's adherence to the highest quality standards, noting that the quality has been reviewed through Cairo and Ain Shams Universities and that the first loading test has been made. In addition to dealing with 3 external laboratories beside the Arab Contractors laboratories, tests were made for each steel truck in the project in addition to the poured concrete. She pointed out that two loading tests will be done before and after Eid Al Adha for quality measurement of the bridge spans.
At the end of the tour, President El Sisi directed his speech to the workers on Dr. Taha Hussein Bridge project, saying: "Whatever you do, may God bless you and grant you health." This was in the presence of Eng. Heba Abou Al Ela – Board Member of the Arab Contractors Company, Eng. Anas Mohamed Al Sagheer Ahmed - Member of the Executive Board and Head of the Bridges and Foundation Sector, and Eng. Sameh Hamid Moustafa El Laqani – Manager of Bridges and Specialized Structures Department, officials, and project workers.
