The Housing Minister follows up on the implementation status of Al-Azbakia Garden Development

Dr. Assem El Gazzar - Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, continued the implementation status of the project to develop and revive Al-Azbakia Garden, which is one of the oldest parks in Cairo Governorate, was implemented in the 19th century during the reign of Khedive Ismail, and is currently being developed in implementation of the directives of the political leadership, within historical Cairo development projects. Dr. Abdel Khalek Ibrahim - Assistant Minister of Housing for Technical Affairs, made an inspection tour to follow up on the progress of the project, stressing the need to adhere to the timetable set for the implementation of development work according to the highest quality standards, in line with the historical value of that park. The Assistant Minister was accompanied by Eng. Emam Afifi - Vice Chairman of the Arab Contractors Company, Eng. Mohamed Elwi - Head of Greater Cairo Sector, Eng. Khaled Rayan – Manager of the Distinguished Buildings Department; Eng. Samer Moukhtar - Projects Manager; and Eng. Mohamed ElDessouki, representing the National Media Authority (Maspero). The Assistant Minister of Housing for Technical Affairs held a meeting to discuss the implementation challenges, decisions to overcome them, and progress of the work. He pointed out that the components of the project to develop and revive Al-Azbakia Garden include the lake, the archaeological fountain, the Roman theatre, the pergola, the cafeteria, the restaurant, the fences, etc. The scope of work includes the removal of old works in the historical garden while preserving the trees and archaeological buildings in the garden and the implementation of new works according to the approved design, besides the new electromechanical systems required for the project.
