President Abdel Fattah El Sisi inaugurated on Wednesday Imam Al-Hussein Mosque, after the comprehensive renovation works of the mosque, which the Arab Contractors Company participated in, under the supervision of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority. The Arab Contractors Company implemented the development work of the mosque, and its external courtyard in 21 days only to receive worshipers in the first Friday prayer of Ramadan and Tarawih Prayer.
President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, initially performed the prayer, then inspected the work of increasing the efficiency of the mosque of Imam Al-Hussein Mosque, and listened to a detailed explanation from Major General Ihab El Far - Head of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority, during which he indicated that the work of increasing the efficiency of the mosque was carried out in coordination with the Ministry of Antiquities and was carried out by a branch of the Arab Contractors Company "Palaces and Monuments Restoration", which works in the restoration of museums and all antiquities with the Engineering Authority. He emphasized that all the antiquities in the mosque have been fully preserved.
President El Sisi was joined in the inauguration by His Holiness Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, Sultan of the Indian Bohra community, accompanied by his brothers and sons; including Prince Jawhar Izz Al-Din, Prince Jaafar Al-Sadiq Saif Al-Din, as well as Mohammad Hassan — the sultan’s representative in Egypt.
The Spokesman for the Presidency said the restoration and maintenance of Imam Al-Hussein Mosque comes within the framework of President El Sisi’s directives to renovate the shrines of Prophet Mohammed's descendants “Ahl al-Bayt".
Those included in particular the shrines of Imam Al-Hussein, Al Sayyeda Nafisa, and Al Sayyeda Zeinab, which were renovated in an integrated manner, including the mosques’ interior halls and the architectural decorations, in harmony with the historic and spiritual
character of the shrines.
This is in addition to the comprehensive development of services and facilities in the surrounding area, including the roads, squares and roads leading to the shrines, in a manner that integrated with the state’s efforts to develop historic sites in Fatimid and historic Cairo.
