Minister of Transport visits the work sites of LRT project

Within the continuous follow up of the electric traction projects which are implemented by the Transport Ministry's efforts to expand its environmentally-friendly green transport network. Minister of Transport Kamel El Wazir made an inspection tour to follow up the implementation work of the Light Rail Transit “LRT” (El Salam – New Administrative Capital - 10th of Ramadan City). He was accompanied by the officials of the Transport Ministry and National Authority for Tunnels, Eng. Ahmed El Assar – Senior Vice Chairman of the Arab Contractors Company, Eng. Ibrahim Mabrouk – AC Board Member and Eng. Ahmed Shawki – JV Manager of Cairo Metro Line 3 Phase 4B. The tour started from Adly Mansour Central Interchange Station, which will include an integrated service transportation complex and a commercial investment zone on an area of 15 feddans, to exchange the service between 5 different means of transportation. It includes Cairo Metro Line 3 (which has been inaugurated and operated), Light Rail Transit “LRT”, Cairo / Suez Railway Station, a superjet station, in addition to the Bus Rapid Transit “BRT” (Adly Mansour / El Salam). The Minister was briefed on the rates of increasing the efficiency of the “Cairo / Suez” line from Adly Mansour to El Rubiki with a length of 35 km, confirming the speedy completion of the central interchange station according to the schedule, and all work is carried out according to high quality measurements. Then, the Minister rod a test train for the LRT in the distance from Adly Mansour to New Heliopolis, to check on the completion, readiness and validity of the railway work. He inspected a number of the project stations, witnessed the installation of ticket gates and screens at the stations. The Minister was briefed the officials of the Chinese Company” AVIC” on the implementation rate of electromechanical works, control and signaling systems, where the catenary pillars are being installed which feed the train with electricity, and laying cables for electric power, signals and communications. He was also briefed on the implementation rates of the civil and finishing works for the first and second phases which reached 95% (stations, bridges of the project and railway works), all car bridges in the project (4 bridges) have been completed and operated in front of vehicle traffic. These are the bridges of (Hykestep - Al Mostakbal 1 - Al Mostakbal 2 - Al Shorouk). In addition to the completion of 7 bridges for the route of the LRT, which are: (Ismailia, Geneva, El Rubiki 1 and 2, Suez, New Capital 1 and 2). The project also includes 3 tunnels that completed 100%. It is a car tunnel at the New Capital's parks and 2 tunnels for the train’s route: “New Heliopolis and Badr”. Besides, he reviewed the implementation rates of the LRT’s depot which include 26 buildings an built upon 80 feddans, which is about to be completed.
