President El Sisi inaugurated number of the national projects related to the development of East Cairo and Paron Empain Palace after its restoration

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi inaugurated today a number of the national projects related to the development of East Cairo and Paron Empain Palace after its restoration that the Arab Contractors Company participated in its implementation under the supervision of the Engineering Authority. This was in the presence of Dr. Moustafa Madbouli – Prime Minister, Dr. Ali Abdel Aal - Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr. Ahmed El Tayeb - Sheikh Al Azhar, Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria and Patriarch of Saint Marks Diocese, number of officials, Major Gen. Ehab El Far – Head of the Engineering Authority of the Armed Forces and Eng. Mohsen Salah – CEO and Chairman of the Arab Contractors Company. Eng. Mohsen Salah declared that El Merghany bridge at the intersection of Al Orouba is representing one of the governmental projects launched by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi. This is within the comprehensive development and modernization plan of the Greater Cairo hubs and to facilitate the traffic movement in the different districts as Heliopolis. The Arab Contractors Company implemented it under the supervision of the Engineering Authority of the Armed Forces. It is consisting of cars bridge in El Merghany street with the intersection of Al Orouba Road with a length of 550m, width of 21m and 3 lanes in each direction. The bridge represents a challenge that the Engineering Authority and the Arab Contractors Company were keen to use an innovative implementation method for the first time in Egypt. This method is about using precast and prestressed beams with a total number of 21 beams in “V" shape. The length of each beam varied from 40-45m and it is hollow from inside, its weight reach 210 tons. This beams is an alternative for the metal beams usually used in the large lengths; besides, it is saving 35% of the economic cost of the project. Eng. Mohsen added that the bridge of Martyr Hesham Barakat is among the development works of East Cairo to accommodate the traffic density in the square of Nasr City to be without intersections. The Arab Contractors Company implemented under the supervision of the Engineering Authority of the Armed Forces. The project objective is aiming at eliminate the traffic jam in Al Tayran street and the intersection of Autostrad street at the square of Martyr Hesham Barakat. This will contribute in easing the traffic movement, decrease the travelling times. Its length is 250m, 3 traffic lanes at each direction and 20m width. Eng. Mohsen Salah pointed out that Al Amiriya Bridge is considered one of the national projects which will contribute on achieving traffic liquidity in the Capital; it comes within the governmental plan to develop the squares of Heliopolis. The Arab Contractors Company executed it under the supervision of the Engineering Authority of the Armed Forces. It will eliminate the traffic congestion in the intersections of Al Amiriya Square and serves the comer from the Water Utility Street heading to Al Sawah Street. Besides, there is outlet towards the extension of Port Said Street at the direction of Al Cablat Street; consequenlty, there will be traffic liquidity on the surface level. The total length of the bridge is 630m approx. It extends from the Water Utility Street to El Sawah Street with a length of 520m. It includes an inlet in the Water Utility Street with 11.10m width. Besides, an outlet along Port Said Street towards El Cablat Street and another one in El Sawah Street with a length of 225m. Its width varied between 8.30m to 9.30m. He declared that the teamwork overcame many challenges such as: the huge wastewater sewers with 5m internal diameter, diversion of wastewater pipelines with 1200mm diameter, water lines with varied diameters from 300 to 800mm, in addition to the electricity cables, gas lines and telecommunications. Eng. Mohsen Salah added that the historical Baron Empain Palace which inaugurated by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi is considered a unique jewel, one of the most magnificent architectural masterpieces in Egypt and one of its historical and modern touristic landmarks. It regains its elegance after a comprehensive restoration operation which carried out by the Arab Contractors Company under the supervision of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and the Engineering Authority of the Armed Forces. The palace is built upon 23572m2 in Heliopolis; it consists of a basement, 2 floors (ground and first floor)including the garden. He pointed out that the Arab Contractors Company implemented the structural sustaining and restoration of the palace's ceilings, the restoration of the facades, cleaning and restoration of its ornaments, completing the missed doors and windows, removing most of the plaster ceilings and cornices, the restoration of the marble columns, wooden doors, metal ornamented windows on the main facade, the wall portray above the main entrance and the marble status.
