The Transport Minister follows up the finishing works of 6 stations in CML3-Phase4 as preparation for its inauguration...and inspects the implementation rates of LRT

Within the framework of the continuous follow-up of the metro projects carried out by the Ministry of Transport, Lieutenant General Kamel El Wazir – the Minister of Transport inspects the final finishing works of Cairo Metro Line 3 – Phase 4 and the Light Rail Transit “LRT” (El Salam/New Administrative Capital/10th of Ramadan). The tour started with the inspection of El Nozha Station of Cairo Metro Line 3 – Phase 4. This was in the presence of Dr. Essam Wali - Chairman of the National Authority for Tunnels, officials of the NAT, Eng. Mohsen Salah – CEO and Chairman of the Arab Contractors Company, Eng. Eman Soliman - AC Board Member, Eng. Osama Moustafa – Manager of JV of the Arab Contractors Company and Orascom Construction and Eng. Ahmed Shawki – Commercial Manager of the JV. The tour started with the inspection of El Nozha and Hisham Barakat stations and assured the completion of the ticket windows, the availability of its instruments and connecting it with the tickets system in all the lines; and the operation of the installed escalator. The Minister witnessed the finalization of the entry and exist gates, he riding a test locomotive on the track from El Nozha Station to inspect the other stations of Phase 4 (Hisham Barakat –Omar ibn El Khatab – Qebaa – Haykesteb – Adly Mansour interchange station which is considered a model for Multimodal Transport). He reviewed the implementation rate of each station with the The Minister gave his directions that the work should be around the clock to complete the 6 stations and finalizing the tests of the operating and control systems to open the stations for the passengers on 25th April 2020; in conjunction with the laying of the foundation stone of the Light Rail Transit “LRT” (El Salam/New Administrative Capital/10th of Ramadan). The Minister hold a meeting in Adly Mansour interchange station with LRT’s executing companies among them is the Arab Contractors Company. The political leadership directed that it should be completed within 24 months. the implementation rates were explored as follows: the civil works reached to 21.4%, the bridges works reached 20.7%, tunneling is 62.3%, the railway crossovers is 18.5% and 9.7% of the construction works of the maintenance workshop. Then the Minister of Transport toured the stations and the crossover of the project from Adly Mansour to the New Administrative Capital station. He met with the engineers and technicians and emphasized on the importance that all works should be implemented according to the highest quality standards due to the great importance of the project.He confirmed that this project will contribute in linking the Greater Cairo with the new urban communities and the New Administrative Capital, it will serve the investors and the industrial areas in these new urban communities. Besides, it will increase the development of the new communities from residential, commercial and industrial aspects. He added that the metro and LRT projects has a great importance in maximizing the mass transit system. It is a noteworthy that the LRT track is 70km length, it includes 12 stations. The project scope of work includes the implementation of 6 bridges, 2 tunnels, 4 bridges for cars in Haykesteb and the entries of El Mostakbal and El Shorouk cities. Currently there are undergoing studies to extend LRT track towards the south of the New Administrative Capital to reach El Katamiya Road in order to serve the Sports City; the other study to extend it northward to implement the station of El Asher 2.
