Eng. Hany Azer and Eng. Mohsen Salah Touring the Work Progress of the Suez Canal Tunnels in Port Said

Eng. Hany Azer – President Consultant for the Engineering Affairs and Eng. Mohsen Salah – AC Chairman touring the work progress of Port Said Tunnels which will be executed under the Suez Canal. The excavation works is carried out by the Joint Venture of the Arab Contractors Company and Orascom under the supervision of the Engineering Authority for the Armed Forces with a total cost exceeding 18 billion EGP. It is noteworthy that the excavation works in Port Said Tunnel reached 25m depth after the treatment of the clay soil there. The project includes 2 tunnels for vehicles and a third one for railway under the Suez Canal in Port Said to link East and West of the Canal. The 3 tunnels are considered the mega huge tunnels all over the region. The inner diameter for each tunnel reached 11.4m and the outer diameter is 12.6m and its level reached 30m depth under the Suez Canal. The vehicles tunnels one of them from Port Said to Sinai and the other one is vice versa separated by 20m, the length of each tunnel is 2.7km, and the length of the railway tunnel is 6.7km according to the drawings of the international consulting offices of the projects. Besides, the establishment of a concrete segments factory which covering the tunnel body; and all the facilities for the residence of 1500 workers of the project.
