President El Sisi inaugurates Adly Mansour Central Station and LRT

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi inaugurated Adly Mansour Central Interchange Station, the largest interchange station in the Middle East, and the Light Rail Transit “LRT” (Al Salam/10th of Ramadan /Administrative Capital). The President also gave permission to operate the first part of Cairo Metro Line 3 – Phase 3 (Attaba / Kit Kat - Interchange Station at Rod El Farag Axis - Cairo University). The President was accompanied by Dr. Moustafa Madbouli- Prime Minister, Defense and Military Production Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces General Mohamed Zaki along with a host of ministers and senior state officials, Dr. Essam Wali – Head of the National Authority for Tunnels, Eng. Sayed Farouk – CEO and Chairman of the Arab Contractors Company, Eng. Ahmed El Assar – Senior Vice Chairman of the Arab Contractors, Eng. Ahmed Shawki – JV Commercial Manager of Cairo Metro Line 3 Phase 4, Eng. Sayed Abdel Khalek – Head of Bridges and Foundation Sector. Following the inauguration, President El Sisi listened to a detailed explanation from the Transport Minister Kamel El Wazir on Adly Mansour interchange station, the largest station in the Middle East. The Minister of Transport congratulated President El Sisi and the Egyptian people on the occasion of June 30 Revolution and the commemoration of July 3; the decision day which marks the start of a new era in Egypt as the then president of the Supreme Constitutional Court Adly Mansour was ordered to take over presidency until early elections were held. The Minister of Transport welcomed President El Sisi at Adly Mansour interchange station which was established with a new vision, being a part of the New Republic that came out to light in the wake of the June 30 Revolution that ushered in a period of new hope. He added that the station was set up within the framework of a plan endorsed by President El Sisi on overhauling the transport sector. The plan mainly incorporated turning public transport means in Greater Cairo into echo friendly electro green transportation means as applied in Adly Mansour interchange station as the station includes 7 various means of transport. The Minister of Transport, Lieutenant-General Kamel El Wazir, said, "We have conducted research on all central stations in the world, and the largest of them was in France, containing 4 means of transport; We have 7 means of transportation with 4 electric, the first of which is the main building, which contains 3 means of transportation, Cairo-Suez railway, which started from Ain Shams, and according to your Excellency direction within the framework of planning of Heliopolis and construction of Lieutenant General Mohamed El Assar Axis, and Lieutenant General Ibrahim El Orabi Axis, transferring it to Adly Mansour station to break the traffic congestion and density in Ain Shams, then use the railway track as another traffic axis in Heliopolis”. The Minister pointed out that the other means is the Cairo Metro Line 3 and President El Sisi inaugurated Cairo Metro Line 3 Phase 4 in Adly Mansour on August 16, 2020, as for the third line, which is the Light Rail Transit “LRT”, which will be inaugurated today and start operating, in addition to the SuperJet parking which has 4 means of transportation, including those for the regions, another BRT from Adly Mansour to the airport, an electric bus that connects between Adly Mansour and El Salam bus stop for the regions and the new Obour bus stop, the “BRT” that crosses the Ring Road and the higher bridge; and there is a group of 500m tunnels to connect these means with each other, 10 feddans of green areas and communication elements, in addition to a commercial mall on 6 feddans: the ground floor of which is a basement garage accommodate 600 car to serve the mall and the station. In his briefing, El Wazir added that Cairo Metro’s Third Line starts from Adly Mansour Interchange Station, encompassing Rod El Farag Axis in the north and Cairo University in the south with a total length of 41-42 km, including 34 stations to commute 1.5 million passengers. He added that the 1st phase of the 3rd line started from (Attaba to Abbasyia) and phase 3A extended 17 km, including 15 stations serving half million passengers.. 3 A extends from Attaba to Kit Kat; a transverse artery covering an important trade and an overcrowded residential area. “We are ready to start the pilot operation of Safaa Hegazy metro station on the third line, the Minister said. Then Dr. Eng. Tarek Hamed Gowaily - Head of the Central Department for Tunnels Projects at Egypt's National Authority for Tunnels (NAT), and supervising the implementation of CML3 – Phase3, started the pilot operation of Phase 3A. The Minister of Transport added that the 3 lines have a total length of 20 km, noting that the work on Line 4 is on progress through national Egyptian companies based on the directives of President El Sisi, and it starts from Al Firdous area on 6th of October, passing through Al Remaya, Al Haram Street and Al Manial to Misr El Qadima and El Rehab. The Minister explained that Line 4 is about 47 km long, adding that Egyptian companies are working on this line in collaboration with a Japanese consultation office and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). For his part, Eng. Sayed Farouk – CEO and Chairman of the Arab Contractors Company, stated that the company participated in the construction of a number of national projects implemented by the Ministry of Transport, through which the AC won many international awards; these projects include: The project of Cairo Metro Line 3 Phase 3, within the JV of Vinci “French Company” - the Arab Contractors Company and Orascom Construction. It also implemented Cairo Metro Line 3 Phase 4, which was inaugurated in 2020, as part of the first Egyptian JV to implement a metro project in partnership with Orascom. The company is also participating in a JV of Egyptian companies in the construction of the western part of Cairo Metro Line 4 Phase 1. The Arab Contractors is implementing the 43 km long line in 6th of October Monorail project which includes 13 stations in addition to the depot on an area of 80 feddans. The Arab Contractors is also executing 4 stations within the New Administrative Capital Monorail project. It is also participating in the HST project in a JV with Siemens and Orascom. The company is participating in the Light Rail Transit “LRT”, which starts from Adly Mansour interchange station to the New Administrative Capital, the company's work included Adly Mansour interchange stations, New Heliopolis, El Rubiki and the Capital Bridge 2 with a length of 2,800 meters. Eng. Ahmed El Assar – Senior Vice Chairman of the Arab Contractors, explained that the giant Adly Mansour interchange central station is a unique engineering work as it was built on an area of 15 feddans and includes the LRT and the railway heading to Suez, the Super Jet and the BRT stations. About 75,000 meters of reinforced concrete and 6,700 tons of steel reinforcement, 6,700 tons of steel reinforcement, and 3 000 tons of steel construction sectors were used in its implementation. The station covered with a giant canopy with an area of 24,000 m2, which was manufactured and installed by the Manufacturing Sector of the Arab Contractors Company. It is covered with glass and aluminum on a metal structure of steel using about 2,700 tons of steel pipes and based on 50 circular concrete columns, and the height of the glass facade of the interchange station reaches 19 meters. 2 car parks with a total of 450 cars were built to serve the station's patrons, and the complex is equipped with the latest monitoring, audio and firefighting systems. 200 engineers and 800 workers participated in the implementation of this huge work, while the working hours reached more than 10.5 million hours and 19,000 working hours for equipment. The project took 18 months of continuous work under the supervision of the National Authority for Tunnels and the Egyptian Railways.
