The Minister of Transport inaugurates Heliopolis Station

Lieutenant General Kamel El Wazir – the Minister of Transport inaugurated Heliopolis station one of the biggest metro stations in the Middle East and Africa, it is a part of Cairo Metro Line 3 Phase 4A. The JV of the French companies, the Arab Contractors Company and Orascom Construction implemented all the works of the station and tested it. The Minister of Transport declared that the instructions of the political leadership concerning the Metro focusing on continuing the development and implementation works of this important utility according to the state of the art standards; especially regarding the importance of Cairo Metro as one of the main important solutions to ease traffic. The minister pointed out that depending on the metro has eased and facilitated the transportation of the citizens. The inauguration was attended by Major Gen. Essam Wali – Head of the National Authority for Tunnels, Eng. Aly Fadaly – Chairman of Egyptian Co. for Metro Management & Operation, Eng. Mohsen Salah – CEO and Chairman of the Arab Contractors Company, Eng. Eman Soliman – AC Board Member, Eng. Magdy Mounir – Deputy Manager of the Project and officials of the executing companies for the station. Afterwards, the Minister of Transport and his companions took the metro to the station of El Shams Club. Then, they took a test locomotive on the rail passing by the stations of El Nozha, Hesham Barakat till Haykestep to inspect the work on site which is carrying out by the JV of " the Arab Contractors Company - Orascom Construction". It is within the works of Cairo Metro Line 3 Phase 4B. They were welcomed by Eng. Osama Moustafa – the JV Manager, Eng. Ahmed Shawki – Commercial Manager of the JV, Eng. Hassan Ibrahim – Manager of JVs Department, Eng. Abdel Hay Badawy – the Project Manager from the Bridges Department of the Arab Contractors Company and Eng. Salam Rashad – Manager of Electromechanical Projects Department for the Public Buildings and Utilities. It is a noteworthy that Heliopolis station is built upon 10000 m2 approx.; with dimensions of 225m x 22m, its depth reached 28m till the platform level; 100000m3 of reinforced concrete used in the implementation of the walls and ceilings, 18000 tons of steel, the excavation works reached 250000m3, the diaphragm walls from 40m to 50m, the station is implemented on 3 levels according to the international standards. Cairo Metro Line 3 phase 4B is about an elevated track from Hisham Barakat station nearby Badr Garden on Gisr El Suez Road in Heliopolis till Adly Mansour Station nearby 10th Ramadan Bus Station with a total length 7.4km and total number of stations is 6 stations: Heliopolis - El Nozha – Hisham Barakat – Qobaa – Omar ibn El Khatab – Haykesteb – Adly Mansour interchange station. The Gow repairing workshop behind Adly Mansour station is built upon 65 feddans in Military Factory 81, this workshop is considered the biggest one in Africa.
