Eng. Ibrahim Mahlab Touring El Nahda Tunnel and Following Up a Number of Projects

Eng. Ibrahim Mahlab – Presidential Assistant for National and Strategic Projects toured El Nahda Tunnel in Giza governorate, accompanied by Gen. Amir Sayed Ahmed – President Advisor for Urban Planning, Gen. Kamal El Daly – Giza Governor, Gen. Mostafa El Agouz – Head ofthe Central Authority for Urbanization, Gen. Mohammed El Kilany – Head of Greater Cairo Reconstruction, Eng. Mohsen Salah – Chairman of the Arab Contractors Company, Gen. Alaa Hras, Deputy Governor of Giza and Engineer Sayed Farouk - Senior Vice Chairman of the AC.
Eng. Mahlab listened to an explanation of the different phases of the project and the completion rate. The project, which is implemented by the Arab Contractors Company, includes three tunnels with a total length of 1,700m and a width of 7m. It is equipped with the latest meansof safety, traffic control and rainwater and flood dragging methods. The project aims to solve the problem of traffic congestion in Nahdet Misr Square and cancellation of intersections. The project includes the construction of a tunnel 850 ml from El Galaa Square and heading to Giza Square; a tunnel of 550 ml from Giza Square and heading to Dokki; and a tunnel of 300 ml from from El Galaa Square and heading to Cairo University. The project faced many obstacles represented in water networks, sanitation facilities, telephones and cables medium voltage, which necessitated the establishment of new lines. The project is in a high traffic density throughout the year, as there are many foreign embassies, hotels, Cairo University and Directorate of Giza Security, Fire Fighting, Giza Zoo, Orman Park, in addition to many administrative buildings.It has been confirmed that a part of the tunnel will be opened for a length of 550 m and will work in the direction coming from El Galaa Square and heading to Giza Square by the end of this month. The project will be completed by the end of this year. On the other side, the project of the Middle Ring Road Bridge in Helwan was presented – which is carried out by the Arab Contractors Company under the supervision of the Engineering Authority of the Armed Forces. Eng. Mohsen Salah explained that the project consists of the tunnel of the intersection of the middle Ring Road with the Autostrad of 52 m length and 40 m width.
The 2nd Sector includes the intersection of the central Ring Road with Metro with 880 ml and width of 40 m. the 3rd Sector includes El Masaken Bridge (Ezbet Al Walda) with 1200 ml and width 40 m. The 4th Sector includes bridge intersection of the central Ring Road with the River Nile with a 570 ml and width of 40 m. The utilities diversion is ongoing and includes the diversion of the water line 1000 mm and 66 kV cables, gas line sand expropriation works. Eng. Mahlab concluded the visit by listening to a presentation about the project of 30 June Axis, which is 95 km length and starts from West Port Said crossing the International Coastal Road (Port Said /Damietta)till Cairo-Ismailia Desert Road.
