Arab Contractors successfully refloats the tourist vessel “African Dreams” on Lake Nasser with a weight of 4,000 tons

The Arab Contractors Company, through Massara Shipyard and company’s Aswan Marine Workshops, succeeded in refloating the tourist vessel “African Dreams” in Lake Nasser, using marine air cushion technology, in preparation for the start of its periodic maintenance work, which represents one of the largest floating unit lifting operations that Egypt has witnessed in the recent period.
Eng. Ahmed El Assar- Chairman of the Arab Contractors Company explained that this achievement contributes to supporting the tourism sector by restarting tourist units and floating hotels operating on Lake Nasser, which will help revitalize domestic and international tourism and maximize the utilization of tourism assets. He emphasized the company’s continued role in implementing specialized projects with high efficiency.
And to contribute to supporting development plans. Eng. Osama El Desouki - AC Executive Board Member and Head of the Manufacturing Sector at the company, explained that this achievement comes as a continuation of the series of successes achieved by the company in Lake Nasser, where it had previously carried out work to lift and rehabilitate a number of floating hotels, including the floating hotels “Queen of Abu Simbel”, “Prince Abbas”, and “Omar Khayyam”, reflecting the company’s accumulated experience and specialized capabilities in marine works.
He added that the lifting operation represented an engineering and technical challenge due to the huge dimensions of the ship, which is about 115 meters long, 17 meters wide and 16 meters high, in addition to its estimated weight of about 4,000 tons, which required the work to be carried out according to a precise plan and with high levels of technical efficiency.
