The Prime Minister inspects the development of Rashid Port and witnesses the signing of MOU to document the city’s heritage

During his visit today to Beheira, Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly inspected the development work at Rashid Port, accompanied by Dr. Manal Awad - Minister of Local Development and Environment, Dr. Jacqueline Azer - Governor of Beheira, and Eng. Ahmed El Assar - Chairman of the Arab Contractors Company. The Prime Minister affirmed that the project is one of the important strategic projects implemented by the state within the framework of its comprehensive plan to develop ports and enhance the infrastructure supporting the maritime transport, fishing and logistics sectors. Dr. Jacqueline Azer pointed out that the development of Rashid Port extends over an area of 48,000m2, with an investment cost of about EGP 600 million, adding that the project is equipped with a modern and advanced network of facilities that meet its various needs, and includes new berths to receive ships, in addition to specialized workshops for ship maintenance and repair. The project also includes an integrated area for services, maritime industries, administrative and service facilities. The project is being implemented in 2 phases. The tour was in the presence of Eng. Hesham Safwat – AC Executive Board Member, and Eng. Mohamed Qotb – Manager of Alexandria branch. Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly witnessed the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding regarding the heritage documentation project in Rashid, which contributes to unifying efforts between academic, cultural and executive institutions, including Beheira Governorate, Alexandria University, Bibliotheca Alexandrina and the Arab Contractors Company, in the presence of Dr. Manal Awad - Minister of Local Development and Environment. The memorandum of understanding was signed by Dr. Jacqueline Azer - Governor of Beheira, Eng. Ahmed El Assar - Chairman of the Arab Contractors Company, Dr. Ahmed Adel Abdel Hakim - Acting President of Alexandria University, and Dr. Ahmed Abdullah Zayed – Manager of Bibliotheca Alexandrina. Dr. Jacqueline Azar pointed out that, according to the memorandum of understanding, the Arab Contractors Company will provide technical support in documenting and registering heritage buildings in the city of Rashid, and documenting their current condition to support preservation and revitalization plans, in light of the regulations approved by the competent authorities. The MOU also includes cooperation between the various parties to develop integrated visions for the development of the city of Rashid from heritage, cultural and archaeological aspects to achieves a balance between preserving the historical character and the requirements of development.
