Amr Ibn Al Aas Axis is the second east-west axis in Giza after Lieutenant General Kamal Amer Axis, spanning 4 km. It connects the Northern and Southern Ring Roads, contributing to easing traffic congestion on Al Mariouteya Axis and reducing travel time to less than half. It also facilitates movement between 6th of October City, Sheikh Zayed City, and Mariouteya, extending to the districts of Nasr City, New Cairo, and Maadi.
The axis intersects with several main streets, including Al Haram Street, Faisal Street, and Al Mansheya Street, leading to the Ring Road. The project also contributed to the development of surface roads beneath the axis, the improvement of dilapidated utility networks, and the provision of parking areas and other services.
Some phases of the project have been inaugurated, along with the trial operation of the connecting link between the Northern and Southern Ring Roads in the direction from 6th of October City and Mariouteya towards El Mounib.
At the conclusion of the tour, the Head of the agency and his entourage proceeded to inspect the ongoing work on the extension of Lieutenant General Kamal Amer Axis – Phase 4 (Part 1). This section, currently under construction, spans 600 meters from the overpasses to the surface road beneath Tahya Misr Axis. It will complete the connection between Al Warraq Ring Road, 26th of July Axis, and the areas of Boulaq, Gameat El Dewal El Arabia Street, Bashteel, and El Manashi.
The project also includes the construction of access and exits ramps totaling 900 meters in length to connect with Tahya Misr Axis. This will enhance traffic flow from El Mounib Ring Road to Shubra El Mazallat, and Nile Corniche, and in the opposite direction to Alexandria Desert Road and the areas of 6th of October and El Wahat, thus supporting the network of traffic axes in Giza and Greater Cairo.
