The Minister of Transport witnesses the launch of the commercial trial operation of Tahya Misr 1 Container Terminal at Damietta Port

Minister of Transport, Eng. Kamel El Wazir witnessed the launch of the commercial trial operation of “Tahya Misr 1” container terminal at Damietta Port, in the presence of Dr. Ayman El Shehabi – Damietta Governor, Rear Admiral Dr. Nihad Shahin - Deputy Minister of Transport for Maritime Transport, a number of Members of Parliament and Senate representing Damietta Governorate; and senior officials from the maritime transport sector and port authorities. The opening was also attended by Eng. Sayed El Wazir - Vice Chairman of the Arab Contractors Company, and Eng. Mohamed Hassan – AC Executive Board Member. During his speech, the Minister of Transport explained that the trial operation of the station is a pivotal step within a comprehensive plan to develop Damietta Port and maximize its role in serving foreign trade and supporting global supply chains. The Minister of Transport also thanked the Egyptian national companies that built the station’s infrastructure, wishing them further success and progress to elevate Egypt’s standing and position among the nations of the world. It is worth mentioning that the scope of work of the Arab Contractors Company includes concrete works for the platform for the northern and eastern sides (670m long for the northern side) and (303m long for the eastern side), including foundation works with 362 diaphragm wall panels and 257 sheet piles, 29,500 linear meters of piling, in addition to yard excavation works 950,000 m3, dry excavation of the basin 416,430 m3, and yard replacement works 400,000 m3.
