Lieutenant General Kamel El Wazir - Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, inspected the expansion project of the water filtration plant within the industrial city of Qift in Qena. The project is being implemented by the Arab Contractors Company at a cost of EGP 343 million. He was accompanied by Dr. Khaled Abdel Halim - Qena Governor, several members of the House of Representatives and the Senate, and executive officials from the governorate. Also present were Eng. Sayed El Wazir - Vice Chairman of the Arab Contractors Company; Eng. Sayed Hassan - Head of the Upper Egypt and Red Sea Sectors and AC Executive Board Member, Eng. Amr Abdel Salam - Head of the Red Sea Branch, Eng. Emad El Zouq - Assistant Head of the South Valley and Red Sea Sector; Eng. Karem Mahmoud Hefni - Head of the Sector and Deputy Branch Manager supervising the project; Eng. Abdullah Hassan - Project Manager, and Eng. Mohamed Ali - Head of the Construction Authority for Qena Projects at the National Authority of Potable Water and Sewage. The project is being implemented in 2 phases, including the implementation of water and wastewater infrastructure works. The first phase, which included the construction of service buildings, water and wastewater networks, a wastewater treatment plant, an intake, and a drinking water purification plant with a capacity of 60 liters/second, has been completed at a total cost of EGP 145 million. The second phase is currently ongoing, its cost reaching EGP 198 million, including clarifier buildings, filtration building, a timber farm, final wastewater treated channel, a treated water pumping station, connecting pipes between units, landscaping and fencing.
