The Housing Minister and Cairo Governor inspect Al Azbakeya Garden Renovation project as part of Khedivial Cairo Development projects

Eng. Sherif El Sherbiny - the Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, and Dr. Ibrahim Saber – Cairo Governor inspected the work progress of Al Azbakeya Garden Rehabilitation Project, which is being implemented by the Ministry of Housing as part of Khedivial Cairo Development Projects, with the aim of reviving the architectural, urban and historical identity of Khedivial Cairo. They were accompanied by officials from the ministry and the governorate and the consulting office supervising the project. This was in the presence of Eng. Mohamed Elwi – Board Member of the Arab Contractors Company, Eng. Sherif El Dessouky- AC Executive Board Member, and Eng. Khaled Rayan – Manager of the Distinguished Buildings Department. Eng. Sherif El Sherbiny and his entourage inspect the park’s various components to assess the implementation status, the supply and installation of various components. The objective is to reopen the park and make it available to the public, providing a breathing space and a recreational area for Cairo’s residents. The Housing Minister and Cairo Governor listened to a detailed explanation of the status of Al Azbakeya Garden Rehabilitation project in Cairo, which includes (the lake – the archaeological fountain – the Roman theatre, the pergolas – the cafeteria – the restaurant – the walls ...etc.). The work includes 3 axes, which are preserving valuable heritage trees, in addition to renovating some components of the park, such as the archaeological fountain, the Fencing Club and the hill area, in addition to reviving the lake, the open theatre, the cafeteria building, the walls and the archaeological pergolas. In addition to these, the Housing Minister and Cairo Governor followed up on the rehabilitation work of buildings overlooking Al Azbakeya Garden, such as the Fencing Club, which has a direct view of the garden, and the development work of Opera Parking, in addition to the administrative building of Cairo Governorate, which consists of a ground floor and 8 floors on a total area of m? approx., in addition to paving space leading to the archaeological theatres. Then, they inspected the new book market area in a square adjacent to Opera Central, which replaces the old market (Azbakeya Wall). They followed up on the progress of the new book sales outlets, covering a total area of 805 m?. During the tour, Eng. Sherif El Sherbiny directed the rapid completion of the development work on the Opera House Parking and the area surrounding the park and continued follow-up on the park’s green spaces to preserve their beauty.
