The Minister of Local Development and Sharqia Governor inaugurate Orabi Tunnel and the development and beautification of the square in Zagazig

Major General Hisham Amna - Minister of Local Development, and Professor Dr. Mamdouh Ghorab -Governor of Sharqia, inaugurated the project of Orabi Tunnel under the railway in Zagazig at a cost of LE 240 million, to connect the east and west of Zagazig, contribute to relieving traffic congestion within the city, and reduce crowding at peak times. This was in the presence of Dr. Ahmed Abdel Moati and Eng. Lubna Abdel Aziz - Deputies of the Governor, Eng. Mohamed Al Safi -Secretary General of the Governorate, Brigadier General Mohammed Mahfouz Al Nagar - Undersecretary of the Ministry of Housing, a number of Parliament and the Senate Members, Major General El Said Abdel Moaty – Governor Consultant for Projects, Eng. Heba Abul Ella –Board Member of the Arab Contractors Company implementing the project, Eng. Osama Nawar – AC Executive Board Member, Eng. Ali Abdel Aleem – Manager of the East and Central Delta Branch, Eng. Milad Attia – Area Manager, and Eng. Sami Ramadan – Project Manager. It was noted in the presentation of the Arab Contractors Company implementing the project that the tunnel is 350 meters long, consisting of 100 meters without a ceiling in each direction (Orabi Square and Farouk Street) and 150 meters closed under the railway lines. The tunnel contains a total of 4 traffic lanes (2 lanes in each direction, with an average width of 14 to 20 meters), 4 meters height and an estimated cost of LE 240 million. The Minister of Local Development praised the project, which contributes to improving infrastructure and providing the best services to citizens, so they feel the size of this giant project, which represents a qualitative leap in the roads and bridges sector and achieves traffic flow within the city. For his part, the Governor of Sharqia appreciated the role of the Ministry of Local Development in providing the necessary support to implement projects on the governorate’s land, which contribute to raising the efficiency of infrastructure and improving the level of services provided to citizens in all service and development sectors in the various villages, centers, and cities of the governorate.
