Viking Cruises and Arab Contractors inaugurate "Viking Osiris" floating hotel in Luxor

In the presence of Counsellor Moustafa Alham - Governor of Luxor, Mrs. Ghada Shalaby - Vice Minister of Tourism and Antiquities; Eng. Sayed Farouk – CEO and Chairman of the Arab Contractors Company participated in the grand celebration in Luxor, which witnessed the opening of the Viking Osiris floating hotel owned by Viking International Company for Tourism, which is the latest of its giant tourism facilities in the River Nile. The Arab Contractors Company accomplished the manufacturing of the floating hotel at Massara Shipyard. Mr. Torstein Hagen Chairman of Viking Cruises praised the tourism future in Egypt and thanked the Arab Contractors Company for the commitment and great quality of its work in the manufacturing of floating hotels. He declared that he will manufacture more floating hotels in Egypt. Eng. Sayed Farouk thanked the Chairman of Viking Cruises for his great confidence, noting that cooperation between the two companies is witnessing a significant development. He declared that currently the company is manufacturing 3 floating hotels for Viking International Company, which is considered a great launch for cruises. It is an important addition to tourism in Egypt in view of Viking's praise for the security Egypt is witnessing and encouraging investment in tourism. The launching ceremony was in the presence of a huge number of foreign officials in the field of international tourism, Mr. Mohamed El Banna , Mr. Sherif El Banna– Chairman of Viking Nile Cruise Egypt, Dr. Mohamed Youssef – Board Member of the Arab Contractors Company, Eng. Khaled Eissa – Executive Board Member and Head of Electromechanical Projects and Manufacturing Sectors, Eng. Ahmed Eissa – Head of Manufacturing Sector, Eng. Osama El Desouki – Manager of Massara Shipyard which implemented the works and Eng. Alaa Abdel Hameed – Deputy Manager of Technical Affairs. “Viking Osiris” Cruise is the newest tourist facility on the Nile River, with a total length of 72 m, 14.5 m width, 10.30 m height and its weight reached 750 tons. It includes 41 rooms and suites. It was implemented under the supervision of Lloyd's Register. It is considered one of the global tourist and investment destinations in the floating hotels on the Nile River. It has been designed and implemented to keep up with the latest energy-saving and environmentally friendly shipbuilding technology according to the requirements of the Egyptian River Navigation Authority. After the launching, Viking International and Arab Contractors signed a letter of intent to build two new floating hotels of the same giant type in Massara Shipyard, which is the only Egyptian shipyard that manufactures this type of floating hotels for having state-of-the-art equipment, as well as high experience in this field, which has been built up over 40 years. The shipyard has a 1600 ton ship lift, besides its technical techniques which makes it a pioneer in this field. Massara Shipyard is one of the industrial castles of the Arab Contractors Company, along with its long history of manufacturing floating hotels and restaurants, floaters and carrying out integrated maintenance work for the river units. Besides, its participation in the manufacturing and installation of the metal sectors for the mega and national projects that were implemented by the company. Massara Shipyard executed nearly 90 floating hotels, five-star tourist restaurants, cargo barges, river buses, floaters, yachts, motorboats, locomotives, floating cranes with a capacity up to 150 ton, floating pontoons according to the requirements of the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS).
