During his visit to Tanzania to follow up the work progress in Julius Nyerere Dam Project which is carried out by the JV of the Arab Contractors Company and Elsewedy Electric; Eng. Ahmed El Assar - Senior Vice Chairman of the Arab Contractors Company and Eng. Wael Hamdy – Vice Chairman of Elsewedy Electric Company met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in Tanzania. They have explored the work progress of the dam.
The Public Prosecutor received Eng. Ahmed El Assar and Eng. Wael Hamdy to explore the ongoing works of the dam and the project challenges which faced the JV in the previous period . Besides; they stressing on the continuation of works according to the required performance rates with quality assurance.
It is a noteworthy that the JV of the Arab Contractors Company and Elsewedy Electric are carrying out the designing and construction of Julius Nyerere Dam and Hydropower Plant in Tanzania with a value of 2.9 billion US$.
The project scope of works includes the construction of main concrete dam to preserve the water for hydropower generation, electricity stations, 4 saddle dams to impound water with total capacity 33 billion m3, the construction of hydropower plant with a capacity 2115 MW, electricity substation 400KV, in addition to transmission lines 400KV to the nearest point at the public power grid.
