The Prime Minister: African Cup of Nations is a good opportunity to propagate Egypt’s achievements

The Prime Minister - Dr. Moustafa Madbouli inspected the development work at the Cairo International Stadium in preparation for the32nd edition of the 2019 African Cup of Nations (AFCON 2019) next June, which Egypt has been honored to organize. The Prime Minister held a meeting with Dr. Dr. Ashraf Sobhi – the Minister of Youth and Sport, Major Gen. Aly Darweesh – Head of Cairo Stadium Authority, Officials from the Engineering Authority for the Armed Forces, Eng. Mohsen Salah – CEO and Chairman of the Arab Contractors Company, Eng. Emam Afify – the Vice Chairman of the Arab Contractors Company, Eng. Ahmed Abbass – the AC Board Member, Eng. Sayed Shendi– Head of Greater Cairo Sector, head of sectors and managers of the departments participating in the project. They explored the execution statute for the development works. Dr. Moustafa Madbouli emphasized on the necessity of being committed to the action plan to finalize the upgrading works. He reiterated that all preparations are done in accordance with the latest international standards to reflect Egypt’s capabilities for organizing such major sporting events.

The Minister of Youth and Sports pointed out that the development works include the development of entrances and exits of the stadium and its main external facilities, as well as the ground floor, in addition to the main cabin and terraces (VIP), the players changing rooms, the video rooms of the referees, media center and the spectators' WCs. The works also include the rehabilitation and renovating of the football playground (the grass) as well as the track around it. Besides, the supplying and maintenance of the display screens inside the stadium. It was noted that the implementation rates for the development work are proceeding in accordance with the defined time schedule and the required quality, to be finalized before the launching of the championship. The Prime Minister and his companions toured the stadium, the playground surfacing, the changing rooms, the main cabin, and the development works of the surrounding roads to follow up the work progress. In addition to these, the Prime Minister watched the events of the National Swimming Championship which is currently held at the swimming pool complex.
