Eng. Mohsen Salah Visited Western Assiut Plateau Axis Project and Met with the Executive Board of the Branch

Eng. Mohsen Salah – CEO and Chairman of the Arab Contractors Company and Eng. Mohamed Fawzy – Head of the Central Authority for Reconstruction in Middle and North Upper Egypt visited the road and the bridge of Western Assiut Plateau Axis Project in Nasser City which connecting between Western and Eastern banks of the River Nile. Eng. Mohsen Salah held a meeting with the Executive Board of the branch to discuss the ongoing projects in the sector. This was in the presence of the Vice Chairmen of the Arab Contractors Company – Eng. Emam Afify and Mr. Hossam Imam, Eng. Tarek Saqr – Board Member, Eng. Mofida Allam – the Roads Consultant in the AC and Supervisor of the Laboratory Sector, Eng. Samir Saad Allah – Member of the Executive Board, Eng. Hesham El Sebaay – Assistant of the Board Member, Eng. Ashraf Attia – Head of Road Sector, Eng. Yasser Abdel Aal – Manager of Upper Egypt Road Department and Dr. Maher Abdel Tawab – Manager of Assiut Branch who declared that the project is a two-way road which connects Cairo/Assiut Western Desert Road through Assiut Plateau with a length of 22.6km. It is aiming at linking Nasser City "the Western Plateau" with the governorate, connecting the Western and the Eastern Desert Road, creating a new urban area on Assiut Plateau and facilitating the transportation. The Arab Contractors Company completed the First phase of the road along 12 km of the road although the great challenges which faced the implementation process as splitting the mountain and cutting the rocks. The Second Phase along 10km is going to be accomplished. The road is starting from Kilo 0 in front of Assiut Airport on Assiut-Sohag Western Road to the Ring Road in Front of El Wasta Bridge over the River Nile along 22.6km. It is 2 traffic lanes; each one of them is 7.5m width, in addition to a middle island. The road is crossing over the plateau along 15km, descending for 2 km. Then it crosses a higher bridge next to the Darnka torrents with a length of 1.8 km and passes through an agricultural land for ??4 km in order to connect with the Ring Road of Assiut City and avoid the intersection of the road with the railway, Assiut El Ghanayem Road, El Zawya Drainage and Darnka torrents. The project includes the construction of 702 piles along 30m, 113 bases, 113 columns, 84 higher crests and 47 reinforced concrete spans with an average length of 25m using the box section system with a total concrete amounts 33000m3, 72 steel spans, 4700 tons iron sheets with different thickness (length 1800ml – width 16m) in two directions with a total of 29000m2 asphalt.
