On Sunday 6th April, 2014 - Cairo Governor inaugurated the pedestrian tunnel beneath the Ring Road in El Maarag City – El Qatamiya with a total cost EGP 25 million to assure the citizens' safety in crossing the roads in this region. It is a linkage between El Basateen and El Moqatam which include many private universities in the investment area and more than 7000 persons benefit from it.
The pedestrian tunnel total length is 75 m. it is designed to be accommodated with the citizens, old aged and people with special needs by providing moving escalators and elevators to serve them.
