Minister of Transport: Sidi Gaber Station is expected to be opened Mid 2010

On Saturday 4th July 2009, Eng. Mohammed Mansour - Minister of Transport, General Adel Labib - Governor of Alexandria, Eng. Mahmoud Sami – Chairman of the Egyptian National Railways and Eng. Ibrahim Mahlab, President and CEO of the Arab Contractors touring the development works of Sidi Gabr Railway Station. The minister stated that the station will be inaugurated on the mid of the coming year and its total cost EGP 70 million. On the other hand, the minister touring the construction works of the New Lock at KM-100 on Nubaria Canal in El Nahda with a total cost EGP 322 million, it is expected inauguration date is on the mid of 2010. The minister and his accompanied delegation listened to General Karim Abu El Khair - Chairman of the River Transport Authority (RTA) who explained the objective of Lock construction contributing in the increase of the navigation movement from Cairo to Alex (220 km) and Cairo to Aswan (960km). There were many public and executive leaders welcomed the Minister, Eng. Nouh Meshref Vice-President for Execution and Technical Affairs, Eng. Osama Shawki – Vice-President for Electromechanical Works, Eng. Mohammed Tawfic – Board Member, Eng. Abdul Mola Ahmed – Head of Sector, Eng. Samy Shehab – Deputy Manager of Alexandria Branch and supervisor of Sidi Gabr Station Project and Eng. Mohammed Abou Deshish – Manager of Tunnels and Slip Forms Department which executed the Lock works.
