On Sunday 13th January 2008, President Mubarak inaugurated Dashlout Village, the first village of the desert hinterland villages project in Assiut.
In the presence of Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Nazif, Minister Housing , Utilities & Ubran Communities Eng. Ahmed El-Maghrabi, Minister of Defence and Military Production Field Marshal Mohamed Hussein Tantawi, Minister of Transport Eng. Mohamed Mansour, Minister of Mr. Anas El Feky, Minister of Economic Development Dr. Osman Mohamed Osman, Minister of State for Local Development Field Marshal Mohammad Abdul-Salam al-Mahgoub, Assiut Governor Field Marshal Nabil Al Azzaby and Chairman and CEO of the Arab Contractors Company Eng. Ibrahim Mahlab.
Dashlout Village includes 50 rural houses, a mosque, a school, a health unit, a central, a post office, a market, a bakery and sport playgrounds.
